Lena Tan

Lena Tan, originally from Guangxi, China, holds a BS in Analytical Chemistry from Chengdu University of Technology (Sichuan, China) and an MS in Environmental Engineering from the University of Hartford (CT, USA). Lena has worked as a Chemical Engineer at the Chemical Laboratory of the Guangxi Geological Exploration Center, National Bureau of Building Materials, in Guilin, Guangxi, China. She currently serves as an Environmental Analyst at the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection in Hartford, CT.

Lena is the founder, president, choreographer, and writer (for songs and skits) at East Culture Arts, Inc. (ECA). She is also the vice president of several organizations, including the Guangxi Fraternal Association of America, Chinese American Guangxi Federal Association, and Guangxi United Associates of America Corporation. Previously, Lena served as the director of the Guilin Poetry and Couplets Society.

In 2024, Lena’s choreographed dance, "The Flying Tiger in the Sky," earned the "Outstanding Award" at the Time Dream Stage International Performances Competition, presented by the American Time for Chinese Outstanding People Awarding Committee. Her song, "Guangxi Ni Di Ya," was featured in the 2022 Chinese New Year Program on CCTV and seven other TV stations in China. Additionally, Lena’s ECA group represented Chinese-American participants at the 2018 National Mid-Senior Chinese New Year Gala in Beijing after winning a competition in the USA. In 2012-2013, her dance skit “Double Happiness – Honeymoon Around the World” earned the Great Hartford Art Award in Connecticut.

Lena has also appeared as an extra in the TV series Mr. Robot and had a small role in the movie Queen(s), in addition to participating in various stage shows and plays.
